Terry Gene Bollea, Hulk Hogans real name was born August 11, 1953 of humble means. He is the son of son of Ruth, she was a homemaker and earn money on the side as a dance teacher, and Peter Bollea, a local construction foreman. They all lived in the town of Tampa Florida. At the age of 16 Hulk Hogan got the wrestling bug after watching professional wrestling on TV and attending local professional wrestling matches at Tampa Sportatorium. During one of those visits to Tampa Sportatorium he turned his attention to "Superstar" Billy Graham and looked to him for inspiration as he turned his attention to becoming a wrestling superstar. In high school Terry was also a very talented bass guitar player. Him and his band often book multiple engagements for local events. At one time he believed that he could go very far playing in numerous bands. He also attended the University of South Florida but he eventually dropped out. Most of his time was spent in the Gym where he met pro wrestler Mike Graham, the son of legendary wrestler and National Wrestling Alliance president Eddie Graham. His physical statue was great and it eventually caught the eye of Jack Brisco who convinced Terry to try wrestling. Having followed wrestling since his teen years Terry agreed and began his superstar road.
